Cari Curri
Ms. Curri is a trained massage therapist, licensed esthetician and
co-owner of Kalianas
Spa & Wellness in Indian Harbour Beach. Kaliana's
is a 10,000 sq. ft. environmentally-friendly medical spa that cultivates
results and promotes wellness and relaxation.
Chris Edwards, D.D.S.
Dr. Edwards graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy
and Temple University School of Dentistry and completed a one year
general practice residency at the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu
in 1979. He practiced dentistry in Hawaii for five years.
Dr. Edwards pursues continuing education in such fields as orthodontics,
implants and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Edwards, owner of Smile
Design Center in Viera, is passionate about his work and the
comfort of his patients. He incorporates Laser Dentistry, Digital
X-rays, aromatherapy, paraffin hand dips, a coffee bar and great
music into the dental experience.
Michael F. Edwards, M.A., C.H.E.S., R.H.Ed.
Mr. Edwards is employed at Patrick Air Force Base Health and Wellness
Center as the Health Educational Program Manager, where he designs,
implements and evaluates programs in preventative medicine and lifestyle
self-management. He is active in the development of programs for
Tobacco Cessation, Stress Management, Nutrition, Insomnia Management,
Medication Management and Memory Improvement, among others. Mr.
Edwards received his M.A. in Health Education at East Carolina University,
his C.H.E.S. designation from the National Commission for Health
Education Credentialing, Inc, and his R.H.Ed. designation from the
North Carolina Board of Registry for Health Education, Inc.
Lisa Gurri, C.O.O.
Ms. Gurri is the Chief Operating Officer of the Brevard
Health Alliance (BHA). The BHA was established in 2005 to provide
medical access to Brevard's underserved community. BHA operates
clinics in Palm Bay, Melbourne and Cocoa. BHA also has developed
an expansive mobile health service which provides care to those
with access issues; primarily the homeless. The mission of
BHA is to improve the health status of the medically-underserved
by providing an extraordinary quality of service and care in the
areas of primary health care, dental health care, mental health
care, preventative services and educational services. A licensed
psychologist, Ms. Gurri serves on the Brevard Healthcare Forum and
the Health Council of East Central Florida.
Mary Beth Kenkel, Ph.D.
Dr. Kenkel is the current Dean of the School
of Psychology at the Florida Institute of Technology and holds
a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Miami University. Professional
affiliations and awards include: Member, Academy of Law and Public
Service; Member, Brevard's Team for Seniors and Children; Member,
Brevard County Commission on Mental Health; Fellow, American Psychological
Association; Fellow, Society for Community Research and Action;
APA Presidential Citation, 2000; National Academies of Practice
Distinguished Practitioner Award; National Council of Schools and
Progress of Professional Psychology; Distinguished Service and Contribution
Award; and has contributed to numerous publications. Dr. Kenkel
serves on the Brevard Healthcare Forum.
Kathleen LaPorte, RN, BSN
Ms. LaPorte is a Registered Nurse and Senior General Manager, Vitas
Innovative Hospice. VITAS Innovative Hospice Care®,
a pioneer and leader in the hospice movement since 1978, is the
nation's largest provider of end-of-life care operating 42 hospice
programs in 16 states.
Lucy Lauer, LMHC
Ms. Lauer is a licensed mental health counselor in private practice specializing in eating disorders, compassion fatigue, life transitions and relationship enhancement.
David J. Malis, M.D.
Dr. Malis is a pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. He received his undergraduate training at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and his medical doctorate from The Medical College of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He received his residency training in Otolaryngology at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas; followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Children's Hospital and Health Center, San Diego, California.
Dr. Malis previously served as Chief, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C.
Dr. Malis is Board Certified in Otolaryngology
and is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and
the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Additionally, he is an
active member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology
(ASPO), the Society for Ear, Nose, Throat Advances in Children (SENTAC),
and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery
(AAOHNS). Dr. Malis is Brevard County's only fellowship-trained
Pediatric Otolaryngologist.
