Wuesthoff Health System Foundation receives
$655,000 gift from Local Philanthropist’s, Tom and Susie Wasdin
[Brevard County, FL] (March 12, 2008) Wuesthoff Health System Foundation was recently awarded a real estate gift from Brevard County philanthropist’s, Tom and Susie Wasdin. Appraised at nearly $655,000, the property, located at 1998 Rockledge Blvd., in Rockledge, also includes the Bay Wash Car Wash.
“Susie and I have been a part of this community since the early 1960’s. We feel strongly about the importance of giving to organizations which have the opportunity to make differences in peoples lives,” said Tom Wasdin, president, Wasdin Associates. “We have always felt honored to be associated with the Wuesthoff Health System Foundation.”
Located on the corner of US 1 and Park Avenue, the car wash encompasses nearly an acre of commercial property. According to Wuesthoff officials, the car wash will continue to operate through a lease with a local company; income from that business arrangement will help expand Wuesthoff’s health initiatives including breast cancer, cardiac care, and hospice services.
“Philanthropic gifts come in many forms. This donation of real estate is a great asset to the Foundation and will undoubtedly increase in value over time,” said Wuesthoff Health System Foundation president, Dorothy Allen. “We are proud of our association with Tom and Susie, and grateful for their incredible generosity.”
“It is our duty to give, and no matter how much we give, our contributions can never repay us for what we have received from the Brevard community,” added Wasdin.
In addition to her involvement in multiple Brevard County organizations, Susie Wasdin has been on the Wuesthoff Health System Foundation Board of Directors for nearly ten years and presently serving as vice-chairman.
