Mima Recognized for Quality Laboratory Services and Receives National Accreditation

[MELBOURNE, FL] – MIMA has met all criteria for Laboratory Accreditation by COLA, a national healthcare accreditation organization. Accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid standards of quality in day-to-day operations, demonstrate continued accuracy in the performance of proficiency testing, and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey. MIMA has earned COLA accreditation as a result of a long-term commitment to provide quality service to its patients.

COLA is a non-profit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care through programs of voluntary education, achievement, and accreditation. Mary Lawrence, Director of the MIMA Laboratory says accreditation is “independent validation of MIMA’s overall commitment to quality healthcare on all levels. As MIMA strives toward a healthier Brevard County, accredited lab services enhance physicians’ diagnostic capabilities. With this accreditation, MIMA patients have peace of mind in the quality of tests and test results. The MIMA lab combines state-of-the-art instrumentation and computerization with licensed laboratory personnel to achieve a level of quality and patient satisfaction that is MIMA’s hallmark.

MIMA now provides laboratory services at seven of their Brevard County locations in Palm Bay, Melbourne, Indialantic, Indian Harbour Beach, and Viera. MIMA’s new Malabar location next to Palm Bay Community Hospital is slated to open by summer of this year and laboratory services will be available at this new location as well.

COLA is approved by the federal government and sponsored by the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine, and the American Osteopathic Association.
